Cluster of Multi-core machines and HPC facility The Aristarchus Research Center (ARC) at European University Cyprus is involved in the analysis of large volumes of data generated by ESA space missions (e.g. Herschel Extragalactic Legacy Project) as well as computer simulations that are used to model the data and carry out science. For this work access to a high performance computing facility (HPC) is needed. Currently the group has access to the Cyclone facility at Cyprus Institute and we would like this to continue. We would also like to develop a local cluster of multi-core machines for code development and testing. Intel 40 Core Xeon Platinum 3rd Gen 8380 Scalable Server CPU/Processor Intel Xeon Platinum 8380, S 4189, Ice Lake, 40 Core, 80 Threads, 2.3GHz, Turbo, 60MB Cache, 64 Lane, OEM
Clean Room Enable assembly and test of microelectronic components and circuits, including chip scale measurements Clean room plus associated equipment (including probe stations for measurement of microwave integrated circuits and photonic integrated circuits)
Thermal Vacuum Chamber Testing of specimens under space enviroment conditions TVAC is a vacuum chamber where the radiative thermal environment is controlled. Frequently used for testing spacecrafts or space parts under simulated space environment conditions.
Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) Higher quality in characterisation of specimens To determine the thermal transitions of a materials including the glass transition temperature (Tg), crystallization temperature (Tc), and melting temperature (Tm).
Advanced Materials Printer Enable the fabrication of next generation of electronics with advanced form factors (flexible, stretchable, transparent, wearable, etc.). The applications of these electronics vary from smart spacesuits to additive manufacturing in space. Capable of printing the following materials: Nanomaterial-based dispersions, conducting and insulating polymer-based inks with low to medium viscosities.
Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) Characterization of specimens. Currently this is outsourced and is very costly and time consuming. For image and surface topography examination of samples by taking images and scanning the surface with a focused beam of electrons.
Autoclave Higher quality in manufacturing For curing composite materials on by applying a thermal cycle and a pressure cycle.
Universal Test Machine (UTM) with higher load cell Higher quality in testing of specimens To perform mechanical testing (tensile, compression, fatique) for FRP samples.
Impact Testing - Drop Tower Higher quality in testing of specimens To measure energy absorbed of a sample or to apply a set amount of damage to a specimen at specified impact velocities.

Optical Test Equipment To enable measurements of photonic components Optical spectrum analyser (resolution down to at least 1 GHz), optical vector network analyzer, tunable laser, programmable optical filter
Moisture Analyzer Higher quality in testing of specimens To determine the moisture content of a material (e.g. pellets) with the loss on drying method and consists of a weighing and halogen heating unit.
UAV Fleet - Sensors Taking into account the rapid development of technology and the need for continuous upgrade of our fleet, our company aims to purchase new UAVs. Specifically, the upgrade includes the purchase of a new fixed wing UAV with the ability of vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) and Satellite communications systems for seamless operations. Additionally, a new generation multicopter with the ability to carry a load of about 5 kg and be equipped with RTK module. In addition to the purchase of new UAVs, the goal is to upgrade the existing fleet as well with new autopilots and communication equipment with military specifications. Following our research activity, our company is searching the market to acquire more CBRN related sensors, specialized wide range sensors (hyperspectral, multispectral), and finally a LIDAR sensor VTOL UAV: - 8 h endurance with a fuel-injected engine option - Capable of safe takeoff and landing in over 15 m/s (33.5 mph) wind - In-line propeller stopping design for reduced air drag during level flight - Up to 7.0 kg payload capacity, Carbureted 28 cc gasoline 2-stroke engine - 3 liter (0.78 gal) fuel tank with tubing Satelite RTx: open CBRN sensor: - Full CBRN detection capability in one package - Simultaneous chemical and radiation detection - Internal bio test memo - Chemical, biological and radiation detection results sharing with the team - Bluetooth gas & vapor simulation sources to use with in-built training mode.
