Publication of the Results of the Public Consultation
The Department of Electronic Communications of the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, announces the publication of the results of the Broadband Voucher Scheme.
The public consultation took place from 12/03/2022 until 12/04/2022. In the public consultation we received four (4) contributions (Cyta, Epic, Primetel and Cablenet).
The document published below summarizes the main comments received in the public consultation and the relevant responses of the Department of Electronic Communications.
In addition, please note the following main changes to the Scheme after the public consultation with all stakeholders:
The Scheme aims to cover part of the set-up cost and part of the monthly subscription costs for the first 12 months of broadband connection with download speeds of at least 200 Mbps under conditions equivalent to peak time conditions.
The total economic value of a voucher is a fixed amount EUR 120, designed to cover less than 50% of the estimated set-up costs and of the first 12 months of subscription (in line with the EU State Aid Guidelines).
Using the voucher scheme, each eligible beneficiary may sign a contract with any of the registered providers in order to receive the grant.
Vouchers can be used either for a new subscription to a broadband service providing download speeds of at least 200 Mbps under conditions equivalent to peak time or to upgrade an existing subscription (below and not equal to 100Mbps) to a subscription with a download speed of 200Mbps. However, vouchers cannot be used to change from one provider of an existing subscription that meets the criteria of this Guide to another.
