Public Consultation on the Amendment of the Radiocommunications (Radio Frequency Categories Subject to General Authorization and Registration) Order 2010 to 2021, and the amendment of the Radiocommunications (Use of Radio Frequencies and Radio Frequency Bands by Radio Equipment Exempt from the Obligation to Obtain Authorization) Order 2020 and for the issuance of two new General Authorizations.

The Director of the Department of Electronic Communications, in the context of the adoption of the following Executive Decisions of the European Commission:

1. Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/179 of 8 February 2022 on the harmonized use of radio spectrum in the 5 GHz frequency band for the implementation of wireless access systems, including local radio communications networks and repealing Decision 2005/513/ FROM.
2. Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/2307 of 23 November 2022 amending Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/179 as regards the assignment and allocation of the frequency bands 5 150-5 250MHz, 5 250-5 350MHz and 5 470-5 725MHz according to the technical conditions listed in the annex.
3. Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/2324 of 23 November 2022 amending Decision 2008/294/EC to include additional access technologies and measures for the operation of mobile communications services on aircraft (MCA services) in Join.
4. Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/180 of 8 February 2022 amending Decision 2006/771/EC as regards the updating of harmonized technical conditions in the field of use of radio spectrum by short-range devices.
5. Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/172 of 7 February 2022 amending Implementing Decision (EU) 2018/1538 on the harmonization of the use of radio spectrum by short-range devices in the frequency bands 874-876 and 915-921 MHz.

announces its intention to amend the Radiocommunications (Radio Frequency Categories Subject to General Authorization and Registration) Order 2010 to 2021 as well as the Radiocommunications (Use of Radio Frequencies and Radio Frequency Bands by Radio Equipment Exempt from the Obligation to Secure Authorization) Order 2020.

In addition, the Director of the Department of Electronic Communications, within the above context, announces that he intends to issue the following new general authorizations:

1. General Authorization for the use of radio frequencies by radio equipment for the operation of mobile communications services in aircraft to replace the existing one (ADP 515/2017)
2. General Authorization for the use of radio frequencies by wide-zone data transmission systems and by wireless local area networks and by wireless access systems, including local radio communication networks (WAS/RLAN) to replace the existing one (ADP 576/2021)
