Suitcase Multi-Magnetometer
Facility |
The Suitcace Multi-Magnetometer Facility is the ideal solution for magnetic cleanliness application when maximum flexibility is required. It is a portable magnetic field measurement facility to fcilitate in-situ magnetic field measurements of space EUTs, in order to model the magnetic behavior based on Multiple Dipole Modeling methodology.
The facility fits in a cabin flight suitcase, which includes 2
magnetometers, along with their mechanical support, their Digital Aquisition devices, as well as smartphone Graphical User Interface, and a laptop software application. It incorporates a unique method to completely automatically estimate the sensors positions.
The Suitcase Multi-Magnetometer facility supports both DC and AC magnetic field measurements. Several magnetometers (combining many suitcases systems) can be interconnected and completely synchronised with each other, in order to aquire synchronous signal trains by all mags and ability to cancel any common noise source using post signal porcessing techniques. |

Defense and Security Research Institute - VR Facility |
The VR facility is intended to create interactive applications, including systems utilising immersive virtual reality and augmented and mixed reality. Specifically, the lab includes two purpose-built independent immersive VR arenas where two players can synchronously play games and interact with each other in a shared virtual space. Gameplay data is exchanged via low-latency local area network (LAN) connectivity. The VR facilities are supported by HTC Vive Head-Mounted Displays (HMDs) connected to independent Windows 10 workstations with powerful Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080Ti graphics processors. The HMDs support 6 degrees of freedom (position and orientation), and motion data is available across a maximum area of 4mx4m. The latter is facilitated by tracking base-stations mounted on ceiling supported trusses. In addition to head tracking and hand tracking (via hand-held controllers), the lab also has several Vive Trackers, which can be strapped to the player’s legs to enable the player to see their leg movements. |

MAGNUS A.D. Synchronous DAQ for fluxgate and search coil magnetometers |
The DAQ device is designed to support a single magnetometer sensor. Two types of sensors are supported, DC and AC type. The device includes a DSP to provide the appropriate processing power to handle the data acquisition and achieve synchronous sampling from all three X, Y, and Z sensor channels.
A micro SD card is included used for data storage. Connecting to a computer is achieved via a USB connection. Also, the device also supports synchronous data acquisition between two or more different devices using a simple wired connection. It is battery powered with a built in charger. A 9-pin DSUB connector is provided for interfacing with the external connector. |
